TESA STUDY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MASS TRANSIT SYSTEM (SITM) OF THE METROPOLITAN AREA OF LA PAZ AND EL ALTO CITIES (STAGE 1)

General Description

The project consisted of the development of the Technical, Economic, Social and Environmental Study (T.E.S.A.) that laid the foundations for the first Integrated Mass Transportation System (SITM) to connect La Paz and El Alto, a transformative project that will benefit more than 1.5 million inhabitants. Our work included: Design of 23 km of exclusive corridors with accessible stations (300 m² each). Optimal technological selection: 120 Euro V articulated buses (capacity: 15,000 passengers/hour). Multimodal integration with the Mi Teleférico system and traditional transportation. Advanced modeling with VISSIM and EMME/4 software to optimize flows. Innovation and sustainability: Intelligent platforms with priority traffic light control. Reduction of 32% in congestion and 28% in emissions. Earthquake-resistant design adapted to the highlands (up to 4,000 msnm). Key impact: 35-40% less travel time for users. Economic VAN of USD 285 million. Generation of 3,000 jobs in the construction phase.
